Meet Electric Guest

Electric Guest is a Los Angeles-based band comprising Asa Taccone, Matthew Compton, and the brothers Todd and Tory Dahlhoff. Until 2011, Electric Guest was a duo with original members Taccone and Compton, before the Dahlhoffs joined to make it a four-member band. Having worked with Danger Mouse as a producer, they were featured on MTV’s list of Artists to Watch in 2012. 

On April 24, 2012, the band released their debut album, Mondo. The band has released two music videos, the first for their single “This Head I Hold”, and the second for their song “American Daydream”. Electric Guest began touring in 2011 in Europe, and is currently touring America until May 27, 2012. They performed at the film festival South by Southwest in 2012.

 

Holly Throsby is a singer-songwriter originally from Sydney, Australia but currently based in London. Holly’s songs are mostly set at night, and are built around finger-picked guitar and her distinctive, fragile voice. 

The arrangements, which incorporate double bass, piano accordion, melodian, clarinet and the barest of vocal recordings, are both delicate and painterly.

She has released five full length albums- On Night in 2004, Under The Town in 2006, A Loud Call in 2008, a children’s album, See! and Team both in 2011. She was nominated for an ARIA award in 2006 for Best Female. In 2007 she released an EP called One Of You For Me. 

Holly has played shows with Joanna Newsom, Smog, David Pajo, Devendra Banhart and Architecture in Helsinki and has toured in Australia with Bonnie ‘Prince’ Billy, Mark Kozelek (Red House Painters, Sun Kil Moon), The Eels, Hayden, Micah P. Hinson, Art of Fighting and New Buffalo.

At 33 minutes, the album is short and sweet; and with ten uniform songs, Throsby manages to create a musical nook that both feels familiar and unique. It’s claustrophobic, sweet, sad and filled with minutia that ground her airy, epic sentiments. The final track, When?, sees Throsby singing out to a void; heartbroken and wishing to get over a love that may just be doomed to last for eternity. It is the best song on the album and trickles out beautifully, leaving the album hanging. Throsby's is a world worth visiting.

Sunday chill choon

Esben and the Witch are a three piece indie rock band from Brighton, England. The band members are Rachel Davies, Daniel Copeman and Thomas Fisher. According to Songfacts, the trio named themselves after a Danish fairytale.

Since forming in Brighton in 2008, Esben and the Witch have had just a few releases behind them including “Lucia, at the Precipice” from February 2010 - and have had positive press support from NME, Pitchfork Media and The Guardian, plus experience of concerts alongside Warpaint, The xx, Wild Beasts, Foals, and The Big Pink.

They released their debut album earlier this year. Available on iTunes.

Wild Flag is a Portland/Washington DC based quartet consisting of Carrie Brownstein, Mary Timony, Rebecca Cole, and Janet Weiss. The members of Wild Flag have played in numerous and notable bands, including but not limited to: Helium, The Minders, Croissant Cocktail, Feeble Knees, Quasi, Dogz, Sleater-Kinney, @@@, The Consortium, Asia, and Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks.


Their premiere video, and the lead off single “Romance” off their upcoming self titled debut, out September 13th.

Deidre

Deidre is, in many ways, a refreshing blast from the past. Employing classically retro melody lines, vulnerable yet defiant lyrics and seriously lush arrangements, this up-and-coming singer embodies the throwback sounds of '60s girl groups with a modern twist.

Based on the stories she received in a mysterious package that was tagged from New Orleans to Berlin and deemed dangerous by the NSA, Deidre cultivated her debut EP 'Curious Parcel.'

Deer Tick began in December of 2004 as a drums and guitar duo. Within a few years the band developed into a quartet featuring two guitars, bass and drums, with three members singing and writing, and one writing string arrangements. They have released countless CD-Rs and two official releases, 2007’s War Elephant (re-released in 2008) and 2009’s Born On Flag Day.

Au Revoir!

Au Revoir Simone is an indie pop band from Brooklyn, New York that formed in late 2003. The group consists of Erika Forster (vocals/keyboard), Annie Hart (vocals/keyboard), and Heather D’Angelo (vocals/drum machine/keyboard).

The band name comes from a minor character in Tim Burton’s Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure.

NME said in an article about the band: "Au Revoir Simone must have beamed in from a land where lace clouds breeze over crystal lakes and icicles grow from the warm earth. This New York three-piece's glorious synth-lead alt-folk will leave you crying on the stairs in the middle of the night."[citation needed] The group defined itself as playing "warm and electronic music with forthright female vocalists."
