Dinosaur Feathers is a trio from Brooklyn who create “‘50s/early-‘60s-inspired pop music.”

Greg and Derek sang a capella together at Carleton College in Minnesota. They built a following in New York after releasing a free EP on their website and playing shows on their own and as openers for other artists. After several line-up changes, the group will release their debut album in March 2010, followed by an appearance at SXSW.

For fans of Vampire Weekend, Local Natives, and summer (the season in general). HIGHLY recommended! Key tracks: Vendela Vida, Family Waves.

Kaki King, one time girlfriend of Sara Quin (of Tegan and Sara), guitar genius, singer songwriter, hailing from Atlanta, Georgia, USA is releasing her 8th album of her ten year career!

The first thing you notice about King's latest album is the variety, with everything from upbeat dance to soothing instrumentals perfectly balanced throughout. With an ambient vocal style that isn't always perfect she reminds me of the mid-nineties indie scene, most notably Sleeper and Catatonia, whose female vocalist would front their performances with a unique sound to divide them from the other bands around. The lo-fi recording style often lends an air of delicacy, even to the heavier and more upbeat tracks on the album, which won't be to everyone's taste, but it would be an injustice to not mention the talent and creativity that shines through every track. Kaki King isn't the kind of artist you put on in the background, or someone you would watch live to bounce around to, and Junior is an album that demands your full attention while rewarding you with fantastic alternative rock. Stand out moments include Spit It Back In My Mouth and Communist Friends. ]

The Pretty Reckless is a New York, U.S. based post-grunge band since 2009, fronted by lead singer Taylor Momsen, most famous for her co-starring role in, Gossip Girl, she is also the face of British fashion chain, New Look for their Spring/Summer 2010 Collection.When not acting and modelling, shes singing her heart out! Momsen describes the band as being influenced by Hole, Nirvana, and Joan Jett. The band opened for Australian sister duo The Veronicas at U.S. gigs in Spring/Summer 2009 and are currently on tour in the UK.

Their album isn't out til later in the year, but this is a nice intro.
