John Mosley, a music producer, did him a few hundred better, raising a total of £2000 (~$3250) for the hospital that saved Soddy’s life when he was stung by a bee many years ago.
All told, the back-tat took 24 hours to complete. “It is the longest tattoo that I have ever completed in terms of the time taken,” Soddy is quoted as saying. “It was certainly more fun than the average tattoo and I am really pleased with it.”
The Norwich-based tattooist didn’t tell his client when it came time to draw in Waldo, because where’s the fun in that?

Unfinished Beach Boys Album Is Set for Release, 44 Years Later
One of the most famous unfinished recordings in the history of popular music –The Beach Boys’ “Smile” sessions — will be released in November, 44 years after it was scheduled to come out, Capitol/EMI records has announced.
The recordings were made in 1966 and 1967 and were intended to follow on the band’s critically acclaimed album “Pet Sounds.” But “Smile” was left unfinished and shelved after the group’s co-founder, Brian Wilson, suffered an emotional breakdown and the group’s legal dispute with Capitol Records over the formation of the band’s label.

Deidre
Deidre is, in many ways, a refreshing blast from the past. Employing classically retro melody lines, vulnerable yet defiant lyrics and seriously lush arrangements, this up-and-coming singer embodies the throwback sounds of '60s girl groups with a modern twist.
Based on the stories she received in a mysterious package that was tagged from New Orleans to Berlin and deemed dangerous by the NSA, Deidre cultivated her debut EP 'Curious Parcel.'

Woo hooo!!
The Irish rugby squad will begin their trip to New Zealand today for the Rugby World Cup today. They’re flying out of Dublin Airport at around 5.30pm.

Deer Tick began in December of 2004 as a drums and guitar duo. Within a few years the band developed into a quartet featuring two guitars, bass and drums, with three members singing and writing, and one writing string arrangements. They have released countless CD-Rs and two official releases, 2007’s War Elephant (re-released in 2008) and 2009’s Born On Flag Day.

Some Cavan talent!
The Strypes hailing from Cavan are a four piece band, consisting of Ross Farrelly, Josh McClorey, Peter O’Hanlon, Evan Walsh.
They may be young but they've got taste (and style!), with inspirations such as The Kinks, The Beatles, The Who and Billy Boy Arnold among others. Their debut single is a cover of The Beatles 'You Can't Do That' - complete with a wonderfully authentic video - and you can grab it now from iTunes.
They play the Retro Revival Club (Sweeneys Bar, Dame Street) in Dublin on Saturday October 1st.

Presenting Crystal Fighters:
Crystal Fighters are an English/Spanish electronic band who formed in Navarra, Spain in 2007.
They are Sebastian (lead vocals, guitar), Gilbert (electronics, guitars, txalaparta, percussion) and Graham (guitar/ txalaparta), plus Laure and Mimi (vocals).
The group took their name ‘Crystal Fighters’ from an unfinished opera which Laure’s grandfather had penned during his final months of insanity. Laure came across the manuscript while clearing out the reclusive old man’s remote home in the Basque countryside. She quickly became obsessed by the intriguing scrawls within it and shared it with the others. Captivated by its seemingly prophetic contents, the band took on the name and formed in an attempt to expand upon the wild and deranged spirit of the old man’s writings.
Crystal Fighters’ style is a fusion of genres – fast progressive dance music joined by the melodies and dances of traditional Basque folk, alongside synthesisers, bass-driven wonk-funk, with beats fuelled by early 80s Spanish punk and experimental electronica from bands such as Aviador Dro, Las Vulpes and Dulce Venganza. Basque music informs much of their songwriting: the riff on ‘Champion Sound’ is lifted from the Basque folk piece ‘Sagar Dantza’ and ‘In The Summer’ draws upon music heard at the Carnival of Lantz in Navarroa.
