Florence works her magic on a rain-soaked Belfast

Rain failed to dampen spirits at Belsonic last night as Florence Welch and her five-piece machine ran through the fan favourites.

Jumping around the stage - Florence, dressed in a white flowing dress and resembling a Wiccan priestess, appeared to cast a spell on the crowd with her ethereal indie pop and mesmerising moves.

The red-head treated fans to tracks from debut album Lungs including My Boy Builds Coffins, Howl and Drumming.

While the soaring crescendo of Rabbit Heart is a highlight of any Florence and the Machine show, it is her cover of Candi Staton's You’ve got the Love that prompted the most euphoric reaction.

Florence, the band's only constant member, once described good music as "a kind of magic that lifts you up and takes you somewhere else". Last night, despite the weather, her musical sourcery did exactly that.

New Ani DiFranco

The new direction that Ani DiFranco is taking on her new songs sounds promising. Acoustic and solo Ani also sounded the best. Although, this is not a new sound, it’s one that works.

Sunday Girl covers "Time To Pretend"

Sunday Girl is twenty-one year-old British singer Jade Williams who earned that name thanks to forgetful customers of the pet shop she worked in every Sunday as a 14 year-old. "No one ever knew what I was called; they just used to call me 'Sunday Girl' and that sort of stuck," she explains in a press release.

The singer was signed to Island/Geffen Records in the U.K. last year and has diligently been working on her debut album together with Jim Elliott (Kylie, Ladyhawke). The record promises to be a compelling mix of alt-pop electronica that is introduced by her cover of '80s italo disco classic "Self Control" made famous by Laura Branigan. Sunday Girl gives the song a angsty twist of her own with its mesmerizing, almost eerie, electronic soundscape and squelchy acid noises.
