Youth for Western Civilization:

GOOD posted this video of a young man named Kevin DeAnna at the Conservative Political Action Conference who is part of the group called Youth For Western Civilization that celebrates Western heritage by actively opposing radical multiculturalism.

In 2007, the Southern Poverty Law Center identified Michigan State University Chapter of Youth for Western Civilisation (MSU-YAF) as a hate group after it organized a “Catch an Illegal Alien Day” game, sponsored a “Koran desecration contest,” jokingly threatened to distribute small-pox infected blankets to Native American students, posted “Gays spread AIDS” fliers, called Latino students and faculty members “savages,” and invited Nick Griffin, the chairman of the neofascist British National Party, to speak on the MSU campus.

.

Britney....kinda.

A recommendation from Ciara:

Best Coast is a surf pop band which formed in Los Angeles, California, United States in 2009. The band consists of Bethany Cosentino (vocals, guitar), Bobb Bruno (bass, drums) and Ali Koehler (drums). The band released their debut album, “Crazy for You” on July 27, 2010 on Mexican Summer Records. The album debuted at #37 on the Billboard Hot 100.

Bethany Cosentino says we can expect “songs about summer and the sun and the ocean and being a lazy creep,” with “drums, beach boys bass lines, and other amazing things”.

Miranda makes me laugh...

Justin Bieber stole my blogspace

So seemingly he was fatally shot in CSI last night.....gagging would've sufficed, but thank you CSI.
Justin Bieber: "being gay is a decision and abortion is wrong even when pregnancy is caused by rape"

This only thing that has made me laugh all day (and I don't even like cats...or whiskey!).

Something from Wales....

The Joy Formidable are the latest act to sign to Canvasback Music/Atlantic Records. The label will release the band's full- length debut in on the 25th of this month (pre-order here).

The group members are Ritzy Bryan (vocals, guitar), Rhydian Dafydd (bass, backing vocals), and Matt Thomas (drums). Their music has been described as “primal epic grunge rock á la The Breeders, Arcade Fire and Yeah Yeah Yeahs”.

Having already played Latitude Festival, Reading Festival and Leeds Festival, I think they're set for a good 2011!

They play Dublins Olympia Theatre on Monday May 16th as support to Manic Street Preachers.

Of course!

Gaga Arrives at Grammys in an egg.

Sorry, I know I haven't seen any form of media for four days, but how did this information not reach me?
I don't know whether to applaud Lady Gaga for being sooooo out there, or start a collection to put her in a nut house. What a woman!

Just a note to say a BIG

So last week I got some emails from people saying they liked the blog! I know people are visiting cause I can see the stats, but it's nice to know who you are! So THANK YOU for visiting and the music recommendations! :)

Radiohead Goodness:

The band has announced yesterday that they will be releasing a new album called The King of Limbs this Saturday and it won't be for free like the last one.

You can pre-order it, along with an extensive "Newspaper Album" that includes two vinyl records, lots of art and deluxe packaging, here.

A Scottish gem, courtesy of Sinéad:

Endor are: Mark Church, Richard Ferguson, Calum Johnston & David McGinty

They sing and play drums, guitars, glockenspiel, harmonica, melodica, organ, roads, portasound, sticks and stones. They like science, books and old cameras.

Following the release of two early days singles on Glasgow’s Say Dirty Records, Endor have this year completed the recording of their debut album.

Gentlemans Fighting Club

I kinda like this, it reminds me of the film 'The Fighter', and bare knuckle fights as seen on 'My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding'

“Uppercut” is the latest short film by California is a place about the underground, invite-only Gentlemen’s Fight Club that takes place in a Menlo Park garage.

And this....well I'm not sure how he manages it, but it's great that he has!

Peter Eckert lost his sight as an adult, but that didn’t stop him from becoming an accomplished, professional photographer. He won the grand prize at Artists Wanted: Exposure 2008, an international exhibition. In the above short film about his work, Eckert says:

My blindness — while it might be a curiosity and it’s kind of a hook on some of my work and stuff — I try to stand on the work, not on the idiosyncrasy of my disability.
