Warm weather outside....

In the couple of years that Blastoids (all the way from Tennessee in the United States) have been doing their thing they’ve made it pretty goddamn difficult not to compare their sound to Animal Collective; even with their new five-track EP the tendency is to make the easy connection. But before getting all genre-fixated, there’s a bit more to the group than a quick glimpse might initially suggest.

YDA 2011 Film Unveiled

The Young Director Award goes all “My Big Fat YDA Wedding” with the 2011 Call for Entries film. But forget ‘love, honour and obey’, this film is all about creating drama. So with X weeks till the entry deadline, why not take the plunge and take your work up the aisle with this year’s competition?

Katie Waissel is a 24 year old from London who auditioned for UK TV talent show The X Factor in 2010 and was put through to the boot camp stage of the competition after preforming ‘At Last’ and ‘We Are The Champions’, she was selected by her mentor Cheryl Cole to go through to the live show stage of the competition due to start in October 2010.


After appearing on the show , it emerged she previously had a US record deal recording under the name Katie Vogel and Katie V after appearing on an online reality show entitled ‘Green Eyed World’, she has also recorded under the name Lola Fontaine, despite fears that she maybe axed from The X Factor, she continued to the live show stage of the show. She was later voted out on the 28th November 2010, coming 7th overall.

LCD Soundsystem says goodbye

Last night, LCD Soundsystem concluded their short but storied contribution to music with a comprehensive 230-minute set at Madison Square Garden.

Jeremy Larson described the final show thus: “[T]his concert should be documented as an exploration how one band compiled every good sound from every band that came before them and turned it into a four hour sound orgasm.”

Notable guest appearances include Reggie Watts @ 1:12 and Arcade Fire @ 2:04. Check the video’s description for a complete set list.

Stars - Changes

So I've just come across the video for Stars' "Changes", a highlight from the Canadian indie-pop mainstays' latest, last year's The Five Ghosts. Which is seemingly based on the fears of sunsets! "It was inspired by the dimming light that can sometimes bring a feeling of foreboding, when the sun shines too bright in your eyes right before it dies." Amy Millan says.
