Phoenix

Phoenix are giving versions of Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix track(s) ‘Love Like A Sunset’ for the price of a retweet about their upcoming Madison Square Garden show this month. Get it by here.

Warpaint

Hailing from Los Angeles, all girl band Warpaint are due to release their debut album 'The Fool' (released on October 25). They weave intricate guitar lines, hypnotic vocals, and driving post-punk rhythms into gorgeous, sprawling songs that skirt the line between the soundscapes of psychedelia and intimacy.

It was seemingly made with stoners in mind:
"It's stoner order. We made this album to listen to stoned," bassistJenny Lee Lindberg told Interviewmagazine.com. "Originally,'Set Your Arms Down', the first song, ended the album and 'Lissie's Heart Murmur' started it."

Singer Emily Kokal added: "Yeah, we definitely recommend listening to the new album after smoking. It's the best."

Warpaint play Crawdaddy, Dublin on October 21st. Having supported bands such as Yeasayer, The XX, and Vampire Weekend, they're destined for good things.

Lucky Shiner

Lucky Shiner is an emotional record, and its sounds are organic. Gold Panda says he wrote it after “touring, mixing, moving houses and splitting with a girlfriend.” A flurry of bells kicks off “Same Dream China,” one of the album’s standout tracks. And “You,” a versatile song that can both force a smile or a welling of tears, masterfully samples sped-up vocals. If you detect Asian influences, you’d be correct. Gold Panda is a lover of Japanese culture and studied at School of Oriental and Asian Studies (SOAS) in London.

Gold Panda’s Lucky Shiner has already nabbed itself a spot as one of my favorite records of the year. If given a chance, I bet it’ll find its way to some of your year end lists, too.

You can listen to “You” — and the rest of Lucky Shiner — below:

Jenny and Jonny

Jenny Lewis of Rilo Kiley has teamed up with her boyfriend/singer-songwriter Jonathan Rice to form power-pop duo Jenny & Johnny. It’s ear candy! They’ll be touring the U.S. (minus Arizona due to boycotting) in September, supporting various acts including Pavement, Superchunk, and Belle & Sebastian. You can download their single, “Scissor Runner,” for free using the widget below or go to their website.

I'm really liking this, you should give it a listen, if you like soft guitar + soft voices.
