You may be familiar with Swedish sister-duo First Aid Kit. Both born in the 90s, the young act have quickly risen to notoriety with their sweet and simple approach to folk.
“Winter Is All Over You” was on their first album The Big Black & Blue, but this remix actually only came out after their *second* album was released. Perhaps Baauer was feeling sentimental?

Since winning the GMA Songwriter of the Year award in 2006, Christa Wells has been best known as the writer of top songs for other artists. In 2009 she released her own solo album, Frame the Clouds, featuring performances by some of the artists who have recorded her work, such as Plumb, Todd Smith (member of Selah), and Sara Groves.
In 2011, she released her second solo project, HOW EMPTINESS SINGS, which received high accolades from both reviewers and fans, followed by a joint effort EP, IMAGE OF GOD, with fellow singer/songwriter Nicole Witt. Under the Radar Radio has included songs from How Emptiness Sings on their list of top gourmet songs of 2011.
As a songwriter, her songs have been hit singles, including most notably “Held” recorded by Natalie Grant, which received airplay in both Christian and mainstream markets.
Born in Texas and raised in a military family, Christa spent her childhood in various states and overseas in Germany. Her earliest influence was Amy Grant, but listeners will hear more prominently traces of Natalie Merchant and Norah Jones, among others.
Today Christa lives with her family in North Carolina, where she works at balancing her musical work with family and community life and is an advocate for Masterpiece Ministries, a creative arts camp for high schoolers.
Patrick Wolf is releasing a 2-disk album in October that is a re-imagination of his songs. The album is in honor of the ten year anniversary of his first released album, and every song on Sundark & River is going to acoustic. This is the released preview track for that album. This song is ridiculously beautiful.
For what they describe as a Mystery Film Experiment for their new album Valtari, Sigur Rós gave twelve filmmakers identical modest budgets and invited them to create videos based on ‘whatever came into their head’ when they listened to songs from the album.

Sit back and enjoy this series from the 1908 Olympics. This was the first year that London hosted. It’s remarkable how much has changed in just the last 104 years. What would these folks think if they saw the clothing our athletes wear these days? I simply can’t stop looking at these! Full spread here.
Made by the students of IT Tralee, about Youth Suicide. It’s honest, insightful and helps raise awareness about a problem that is all too often stigmatised.
A United States Olympic wrestler says she knows that "people in London talk funny," but does she know that the Cockney dialect she's speaking of actually has specific social and geographic ties?
To get themselves in the London spirit, a gaggle of U.S. Olympians took to the classroom to try their hand at the infamous Cockney accent. Their efforts are both hilarious and unfortunate, but in the end, one thing was true: USA should be grateful that Cockney impressions is not an Olympic sport. If it were, the Americans would dominate for all the wrong reasons.
Ryland Blackinton had written a few songs which were heavily rooted in bossa nova and folk music. Alex Suarez quickly learned the songs and brought a cohesive poppy edge to them. The culmination of the two styles produced a folky-pop sound that both were pleased with, creating .This Is Ivy League This was the basis of their first single, “London Bridges,” which was released by indie label Twentyseven Records in 2006. Their debut full-length was released April 1, 2008.
Professional jumper (Daniel MosI) from Bagjump demonstrates his skills of performing flips and stunts and diving tricks from extreme 30m heights onto a large air bag.
I found this story to be uniquely sad and in a weird way uplifting. This woman [Agnieszka Jablonska] is on a pilgrimage because she lost the love of her life [Maurice Crowe, from Waterford city, who was killed by Pit Bulls while working in Malaysia]. And she’s with a donkey. Ireland should not only welcome her with open arms but try and make sure she’s safe and looked after, if for nothing else but for karma brownie points.
I normally don't really do serious issues, but reading this mornings headlines I came across the following:
"Mum gets 16 months for sexually assaulting and filming four year old daughter"
A 28 year old mother who sexually assaulted and exploited her four-year-old daughter by filming her with the child's father naked from the waist down has been jailed for 16 months.
